The HOSPICE Socio-Medical Center at Adunatii Copaceni
HOSPICE Casa Speranţei has completed in 2018 the reconstruction and inauguration for the first socio-medical centre in Romania destined exclusively for the children suffering from a life-limiting illness and their families. By using different types of therapies, from the classical ones to revolutionary ones (therapies through technology), the new centre is a unique project not only in Romania, but in the whole region.
The HOSPICE socio-medical centre from Adunaţii Copăceni, built on a domain donated in 2012 by the Florescu family required an investement of more than 1.7 million euro, money that came from sponsors and donors that support the palliative care cause. The buildings existent on the Adunaţii Copăceni domain, including the mansion (a patrimony building), have gone through a complex renovation process. The work was completed because of the generous support of the foundation partners.
Established on a picturesque domain, next to Bucharest, the centre includes a 12 be unit that offers palliative care to children, spaces for educational-therapeutic activities for children, a shelter for vulnerable families (6 social apartments), an educational centre, a day centre for different occupational therapies, a building for physiotherapy activities, a building destined for summer camps, a centre for family therapies and an educational centre for medical staff.
The therapy services of the Copăceni centre are conceived so that they can ensure the holistic care of the beneficiary children and their families.
The services are addressed for the patient children and also to their parents and siblings.
The services are conceived being based on the 4 pilons of palliative care: psychological support, spiritual support, medical care and social assistance.
For therapies, our programmes include:
- socio-recreational activities in the day centre
- occupational therapy
- relaxation activities for spare time (day trips, camps, museum visits, anniversaries, parties, etc)
- cognitive and aptitudinal stimulation by using different play techniques and methods
- psycho-pedagogical assistance (HOSPICE school)
- psychological counselling
- psycho-education
- intervention through technology (psychological or psycho-motrical therapies)
- social assistance
- spiritual support
- physiotherapy
- primary medical assistance
The care is done by complex intervention programs, personalized for each patient with consideration for each diagnostic, age, need, potential and development particularity. This is achieved by a multidisciplinary team.
